Seven Times

Seven times chastisement for wilful disobedience towards the covenant or seven times penalty for breaking the contract.

Leviticus 26:14 But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; 15 And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments…

26:18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

26:21 And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.

26:24 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.

26:28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

What does this mean "seven times"?

Going by the language of the above texts one would tend to see prophetic language being used.  So what is seven "times"?

In the Bible "time" and "times" are common place but there is one instance in the Bible where its interpretation is unmistakable:

Revelation 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

One thousand two hundred and three score days means 1260 as 3 score is 3 X 20 to make 60.

Revelation 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

We know from verse 6 that the woman fled into the wilderness for 1260 days and now we have the same woman fleeing to the wilderness in verse 14 for a time, times and half a time. Everything is the same except the numbering system.

Let's move on to what a prophetic day equals:

Numbers 14:34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

Ezekiel 4:6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days. I have appointed thee each day for a year.

So a day is equal to a year.

According to the Bible how many days in a year?  Let's start by finding out how many days in a month:

Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened

Genesis 7:24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

Genesis 8:4 And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

Here we start on the second month, seventeenth day and end seventh month, seventeenth day making the waters prevail upon the earth for 5 months exactly. 150 / 5 = 30 days in a month; there are 12 months in a year so 12 X 30 = 360 days.

So now let's take the numbers we know and use them to figure out the numbers we don't know:

1260 / 360 = 3.5 or 3 and 1/2.

Going back to Revelation 12:14 we can assume that a time is 1 and a half time is 1/2 or .5.

So 3.5 - 1 - .5 = 2.

Now we know that a time is one year, times is two years and a half time is half a year.

Since we know there are 360 days in a year and because there is a number in front of the word times to denominate how many times or years are implied we should multiply 360 (one year) by 7. We get 2520!

Seven times = 2520

2520 years was the punishment.

As you can see on the corner of the 1843 Prophecy Chart below, they took 7 times X 12 months = 84 months 84 X 30 days = 2520 days, using a day for a year you get 2520 years.
